Description
Current Lot Regency Silver Urn on Stand by Paul Storr A spectacular Regency silver presentation, complete with all original elements, illustrating Paul Storr at the height of his flamboyant period of ancient Roman inspiration. The zoological spigot is especially appealing, and the four-legged stand captures the fashionable taste of Thomas Hope. The superbly engraved armorials (on both walls of the urn and cover) are for the O' Boyle family, one of the oldest and best known in Ireland with an impressive legacy including promotion of the orrery, an early form of planetarium, during the Age of Enlightenment. A tiny planet features in the engraved oval shield. Exceptional original condition with all five pieces (urn, cover, stand, and two-part spirit burner), conformingly and fully marked for London 1813 and by Storr. Height 16". Weight 107.26 ozt.
