This charger a powerful piece of fine and rare design of Divine compass. The center design is SAN-ZE The Three States of Existence: 1 Past ZENSE; 2 Present KONSE; 3 Future GOSE. The inner circle executed with The Eight Divinatory Trigrams.(See attached table for alternative directional compass reading).  In ancient China, where their emphasis was on the eight "trigrams" or "powers" that they saw arranged in a "divinatory compass."  The trigrams are three-line components of the "hexagrams," the six-line figures that are interpreted as master signs in I Ching divination rituals. The outer circle masterfully painted with 12 zodiac animals. Rest of charger painted with continuous Migi-Manji the Buddhistic symbol of eternal happiness.  22" (56 cm)diameter.  Back is decorated with karakusa design and finely signed with 6 Ming Dynasty characters. This charger was displayed in front window  of Fortune telling store in Ginza district in Tokyo.
