Current Lot Very rare Chinese blue and white drum form brush stand, two character mark, 17/18th century, Of cylindrical drum form, the slightly con Very rare Chinese blue and white drum form brush stand two character mark, 17/18th century Of cylindrical drum form, the slightly convex top recessed with three circular brush pots, rectangular ink pot and a central water pot, all with molded covers, painted to show four lotus cartouches enclosing sprigs, the body is slightly recessed framed by two Greek-key bands, painted to show four cartouches of scholar and attendant over three matched and one similar detailed foliate ground, unglazed raised foot, glazed base. H: 4 L: 5 1/2 in. PROVENANCE: Private Estate, Pennsylvania. For a similar example see; Sotheby's, London, Nov 10, 2004 It is extremely rare to find drum form brush stands with period insert covers.
