The large dish is hallmarked for Sheffield 1909 and measures 4 1/2 inches across and the smaller dishes are hallmarked for Sheffield 1910 and measure 3 1/4 inches across. The total weight of the 5 dishes is 124.5 grams. The dishes are in good condition; however, they need a good polishing to remove some minor pitting (please see close-up photo). The large dish is engraved "Cooke & Kelvey Calcutta" on the bottom which for the Silver Shop in Calcutta. Founded by Robert Thomas Cooke and Charles Kelvey in Calcutta a year after the first war of independence, the establishment was the final word in elegance. No colonial household was considered tasteful without its silverware cutlery. Its silver caskets were presented to the Prince of Wales during his Calcutta trip in 1875. Although the 4 small dishes do not exactly match the larger dish, they do go together well.
