Post War c1950; Set of 12 individual Modernist Sterling Silver Salt & Pepper Shakers. Whether you entertain 4, 6, or 12, your guests won't have to search for the salt & pepper shakers. For dinner parties of 12 the shakers would be shared by 2 place settings. These antique/vintage shakers have a strong Modernist/Industrial design. All of the caps screw on and off easily with six having small holes for salt, and six having larger holes for pepper. Some peppers retain their gold wash on their caps, of which none are dented. These were manufactured by the Watrous Mfg. Co. under the parent company of International Silver. The Watrous was one of the original companies to become part of the International Silver Co. in 1898. Maker's marks: INTERNATIONAL, (Crescent moon-W) the Watrous logo, STERLING, 84. Material: Solid Sterling Silver (925/1000 fine), unweighted. Weight: 120.4 grams Measurements: 1 7/8 inch high, 7/8 X 7/8 inch square base. Age: circa 1950. Condition: Clean inside and out. Great overall working condition with no dents to the screw tops. Some of the sides have slight denting...very negligible.
