The pieces are quite large, European size, and have tremendous weight. They are done in a great classical design with bead and leaf decoration. The set is not complete, but it is done in a style produced by some of the better quality European makers so it should not be too difficult to find additional pieces for the set. None of the pieces have ever been monogrammed. The knives have silver handles and stainless steel blades, as they should. The set includes: 12 Dinner knives: 9 7/8 inches long 12 Dinner forks: 8 1/2 inches long 12 Lunch or Salad or dessert forks: 7 inches long 12 Place spoons, dessert spoons, or oval soup spoons: 7 inches long 7 Teaspoons: 5 1/2 inches long 8 Lunch or Fruit Knives 8 1/8 inches. 2 Serving spoons: 8 3/8 inches long 1 Large soup or Punch ladle: 12 inches long 1 Sugar tongs: 6 inches long Each piece is hallmarked on the reverse with 916 for the silver purity, Sanz for the maker, and a French import mark of a swan in a small punch. The knife blades are marked Stainless, Tilquin a Anvers, 37 Place de Meir on their blades, they also have a French silver import hallmark on the sterling silver handles. The set is great quality and very heavy. The 12 dinner forks alone weigh 1016 grams or 35.6 ounces. Compare this weight to any other set you see. The overall condition of the set is excellent. The tongs have a repair that is very noticeable and not at all well done, but the tongs are still perfectly useable. Consider the tongs a free bonus. Some of the knives have very small dents on the ends of the handles, but these are minor and not very noticeable. A few of the knives have some very minor pits on the blades, even though the blades are stainless steel. The other pieces are in great shape. There are no other repairs, no other dents, no dings, no monograms, no monogram removals, no splits, and no breaks. This set comes with an optional, free, bonus box as seen in the photographs. The box is a felt lined wooden box. The box has surface wear but is effective in protecting the set against tarnishing.
