SILVER HALLMARKS CAN BE A MINEFIELD ! I HAVE FOUND A VERY GOOD WEB PAGE FOR HALLMARKS , WHERE YOU WILL FIND MOST OF THE HALLMARKS OF THE WORLD. SO TYPE IN THE 3 Ws FOLLOWED BY : .925-1000.COM . On offer from England is this wonderfully imposing sterling silver high stemmed trophy bowl bearing the hallmarks for London 1912 and the makers mark of Frederick Courthope . The trophy is of very good size and weight . The overall height is 15.3 " , the diameters are , base , 5.75 " , cup top 10.5 " and the handle width is 16 " . The weight is 1970 grams , 63.3 troy ounces. A most impressive piece of sterling silver from England. The design is exceptional , the whole an absolute pleasure to behold. The domed base is beautifully decorated with repousse roses within a stylised garland border. The elegant stem swells then curves in to a knop decorated with more repousse roses. This knop supports the base of the fabulous handles , more of which later. The wide , open bowl has a pleasing undulating rim with a band of even more repousse roses . On the front of this band is a blind cartouche all ready for your inscription . And so to those handles ! What a joy to behold ! Just look at them closely and you will be amazed at their complexity and great beauty . They rise from the stem knop and fly out and upwards with panache . Just about 3 inches up they curl under and then reverse curls take them on to a plain band . Out of this band erupt spectacular leaf cappings to the inner edges , from where the handles sweep up and over to a further leaf cappings over spiral ends. These spiral ends are themselves supported on a short leaf cap fixings to the cup body. These handles are a credit to the skill of designer and silversmith. .... truely remarkable !There is no inscription on this exuberant high stemmed trophy cup , so you can display it as it is or have your own dedication inscribed thereon. The whole is in EXCELLENT CONDITION and is beautifully polished ready to go on display. For your guidance , I use the words " EXCELLENT CONDITION " only if it is ........., " GOOD CONDITION " to indicate that there are no serious condition problems , but that there may be surface blemishes such as light discolouration , minor dings , dents or scratches commensurate with the age of the piece.............. I use the words " REASONABLE CONDITION " to indicate that there are blemishes and dings ,dents, creases , scratches , ripples etc . Under this condition category I will always qualify such defects , but please ask if you want any clarifcation of damages to any given piece.
