The set is done in the classic Repoussé pattern which was first produced in 1828. The handles are covered with beautiful high relief repoussé flowers and leaves. The designs are all crisp and sharp. The 14 knives, the cake or pie server, the two-piece salad set, and the four carving pieces have sterling silver handles and stainless steel blades. All of the other pieces are solid sterling silver. The set has never been monogrammed or engraved. Kirk & Son Sterling. This is a large and impressive set with a lot of big and expensive serving pieces. The blade of one of the luncheon knives has separated from the handle. This could easily be tightened/repaired. There is of course some minor surface wear, but this is quite inconsequential. Otherwise, the condition is excellent. All of the knife blades are stainless steel. The repoussé handles are sharp and crisp. There are no dents, no monograms, no monogram removals, no other breaks, and no repairs. The total weight is 2990 grams or 104.5 ounces. This does not include the weight of the knives, the 2 salad servers with wooden utensils, the cake or pie server, and the 4 carving pieces because of the stainless steel blades and wooden utensils. Obviously if you include these 21 pieces, then the weight is much more. This set comes with an optional, free, bonus box as seen in the photographs. The box is a felt lined wooden box. The box has surface wear but is effective in protecting the set against tarnishing. This box is free, and is not considered to be part of the value of this auction.
