These spoons feature full figures on the handles of 18th. century style dressed figures. These spoons were made in Germany in the late 1800's by the Karl Kurz Silberwarenfabrik from Kesselstadt near Hanau. The hallmarks on these spoons include the Karl Kurz stamps as well as pseudo-English sterling hallmarks. Also there is a Dutch import stamp ("V") which indicates that they were imported into the Netherlands from Germany between 1902-1953. Measuring 7-7/8" long (20 cm) these spoons are in good condition with no damage, just a bit of wear from age and the spoon with the lady figure has an old silver soldered repair at her feet where I think at one time she must have been bent or broken, but that is really not very very obvious or detracting. The detail in these figures is stunning and I love how the design is continued on the back. These are super quality antique German silver spoons, a wonderful design and great to have a matched pair!
