Description
silvercrane3 Store AESTHETIC MOVEMENT SILVERPLATE PITCHER INFLUENCED BY CHRISTOPHER DRESSER Here is a Meriden silverplate Aesthetic Movement pitcher with an exaggerated “beak” spout as well as an exaggerated pointed oval handle, with incised floral work. It probably dates to the 1880s, and was definitely influenced by the metal work designs of Christopher Dresser. Dr. Dresser visited American in the 1870s and is known to have given a speech at the 1876 Philadelphia Exhibition, and it is quite possible that the designers of this silverplate had attended this international exhibition and seen the innovations and variety of designs coming from England. The pitcher is in excellent condition. It is 8” in height to the top of the spout, approx. 6” at its greatest width across the globular base and 3” across the ring base. Each and every question deserves a quick response! Now for some practical details. Either check or money order is fine. Payment is requested within 8 days, or you may risk default, unless prior arrangements have been made. Have fun bidding!
