Large Silver Tea Tray' Description Large Antique Albany Silver Company Quadruple Plated Silver Tea or Serving Tray Elegant and magnificent American antique quadruple plated silver tea or serving tray with a classic oval form, two handles, beautifully hand-wrought floral and leaf design in the center.    The raised gadroon border is a deeply engraved ornate geometric pattern.  The hand-wrought design in the middle is quite unusual and interesting and has a monogram of the letter M in the center. The dimensions are 27.5 inches by 16.5 inches.  This is a very heavy piece and weighs approximately 7 lbs.  This tray is sturdy and large enough to support a seven or eight piece tea service. There is some pitting or round flea bites in the center of the tray (see photo).   There is one area on the border that is slightly darker than the rest.  It just may need to be polished a little better.  Otherwise, there are no dents, dings, or any other flaws to mention.   Very good condition! The tray is marked on the back and reads:  Albany Silver Plate Co. Quadruple Plate with the numbers 20 and 175.  I don’t know the age of this tray but I was told it belonged to a descendant of the founder of Dartmouth College in New Hampshire.  I believe it was produced around the turn of the century, perhaps earlier.  Please feel free to ask me any questions.....  NOTE* Please be advised that I am a general trader, not an expert in any particular field.
