The design is a very powerful traditional design from the Caucasian. Here is a very finely woven multi Lesghi Star medallion Shirvan, According to its date it was made back in 1905 and measures 4'-7"x9'-5" to be exact. It is made of wool on wool foundation with natural. The most outstanding feature of the rug has to be its  shaded deep blue field with many animal figures and wonderful vegetable dyes and their incredible range of hues. The hooked bars and lozenges around 9 polychrome stylized medallions. There is primary navy blue, red, ivory, brown, green and yellow, many shades of blue and red. This rug would make a great point from which to decorate a whole room, a true centerpiece with the size and visual impact to make a great lasting impression This is in a very substantial and robust weaving capable of handling all kinds of traffic.
