However, we may only ship this item to a USA address to remain in accordance with eBay policies and regulations.*** Fine Japanese Carved Ivory Box of Dragons in High Relief, Signed with two Characters, Late 19th to Early 20th Century. This beautiful round box of four writhing and twisting dragons pursuing a pearl is carved with fine detail in high relief and undercuts. The pearl serves as the knob on the top of the box and all the dragons heads are looking upward towards there prize. The dragons have longs horns and whiskers, sharp claws, scales on there bodies and eyes inlaid with mother-of -pearl. The signature is on the interior of the lid and there is an old paper tag with Chinese characters on the bottom of the box. Height: 8cm. (3.1 in.), Width: 9 cm. (3.5in.) Condition: Of the four dragons, there are two with one mother-of-pearl eye missing and one with both eyes missing. These are very small and can be replaced. One horn to one dragon is damaged and one claw is damaged. There is an age related crack to interior of box. Beautiful carving and fine detail.
