The hallmarks are very clear to base. The profuse beautifully chased and embossed decoration was almost certainly a later addition (probably mid-Victorian) but has been exceptionally well executed by a master of his craft, and I'm sure John would have approved! Condition: Visually stunning, no dents other than a tiny tint knock to one of the vacant shields, there are 2 possible repairs to underneath mid-way of each handle but to be fair they could have been there since the day ot was made, they blend almost invisibly and you cant see them anyway without a good search (we are being hyper critical here!).
