Description
Superb Swedish Sterling Silver Modernist hammer finish Tea/Coffee Pot An outstanding item of Modernist silver design from Sweden, this stylish tea- or coffee pot was made by Jahn of Stockholm during the nineteensixties. Gourd shaped body with elongated neck, round teak handle, elegantly curved tubular spout with fully removable circular lid. With lightly hammered body and cover with concertina-fold decoration, the pot is an exceedingly strong example of distinctive Scandinavian design. Solid Sterling silver with gilded interior body and lid. Swedish hallmark, date mark "O9" for 1964, Stockholm assay- and makers marks. Condition is excellent with only a small split in the centre of the lid (see images), one tiny ding on the wide point of the body, hard to spot amongst the hammer finish and some age related scuffing underneath, due to the soft nature of Sterling silver. Standing approx. 19cm (7.48") tall and weighing a substantial 770gr.(24.76 troy oz.) the item will be of particular interest to serious collectors of Modernist Scandinavian Design.
