Description
You are bidding on a 40 plus year old, very hard to find sterling silver flatware set in the pattern of "Vision". This is a 4 piece place setting for 12 (minus one salad fork). Vision, an award-winning pattern chosen from over two hundred entries by artisans from seventeen countries, is the ultimate in contemporary design. Its unadorned satin mirror finish sweeps in one magnificent unbroken line from tip to tip. The sculpted stem is deeper than it is wide, deceiving the eye and providing a magical illusion of weightlessness. Vision's flawless simplicity is astonishingly beautiful. Below is an appraisal that shows the estimated fair market value, as well as the replacement cost. You will see in the appraisers comments that there seemed to be 2 forks missing from the set. After further review, there is only ONE salad fork missing. A replacement for this fork can be found at http://www.silversuperstore.com/international/sterling_silver_flatware/vision_silverware.html Please read the appraiser's comments in detail for more information on this wonderful pattern. There are also a few pieces of this set that have only been used ONCE! There are still individual pieces that have been sealed in plastic for over 40 years! Some of the items that have been opened has tarnished from exposure, but a little polish and they would be good as new. All pieces are in spectacular condition, considering the age. The case has some minor scratches, but that's to be expected after 40 years. HERE'S WHAT YOU GET: 24 Teaspoons 12 Soup spoons 12 Place forks 11 Salad forks 12 Place knives 1 Gravy ladel 1 Solid serving spoon 1 Solid serving fork 1 Anti-Tarnish case 1 heck of a deal on a very unique set! Please feel free to email me with any questions! Your request for an appraisal has been referred to me for a reply. I have closely examined the information you have submitted. Thank you for the descriptive information. My findings are based on this information. You have a four-piece place setting for 12 (except there are 2 forks that appear to be missing). Your four-piece place setting consists of : 1 knife, 1 teaspoon, 1 soup spoon, and 1 fork. The extra pieces are: 12 teaspoons, 1 serving spoon, 1 meat fork, and 1 gravy ladle. The sterling silver pattern "Vision" was made by the International Silver Company, first produced in 1961, and is still being produced. "Vision" is by far the most contemporary silver pattern offered today. This pattern was produced only in sterling silver, and is still being produced in sterling silver today. The International Silver Company believes that by blending trends and high fashion with practicality, the products will fit the customers life style. Your "Vision" silverware and the silverware of today are quite different. The sterling silver of today is being produced with an alloy that resists tarnish. No more polishing ! A new generation wants products that stay looking beautiful with the minimum of effort; this new alloy neutralizes silver's antibiotic abilities (silver tarnishes because it is absorbing impurities and bacteria from the air). The value of your sterling silver is based on the sterling silver of the 1960's and not the new "Vision" that is being produced today, plus the current purchasing power of the dollar. The "Vision" pattern is valued at higher prices than other patterns by the International Silver Co., because of the contemporary design called "Modernism", which began in the 1950's and continued through the 1960's and later. The market comparison approach to value was used which estimates value by comparison with properties sold in the relevant market, with adjustments made for all differences that affect value, such as differences in characteristics of value, in market layer, and in time. The values listed below may vary depending on how and where it is marketed. Because of the unavailability in the market at this time of the 1960's "Vision " pattern, a full replacement policy (replacement cost insurance) would be beneficial. This insurance is for property insurance for damage or destruction of appreciable items - to replace or repair. ASSUMPTION AND LIMITING CONDITIONS It is assumed that there are no hidden or unapparent conditions of the property which would render it more or less valuable. No responsibility is assumed for such conditions or for engineering which may be required to discover them. Images of the property were not provided.
