This is a wonderful claret jug, the frosted glass etched with raised irises and leaves in gold that go all around the body of the jug. The silver lid and handle are spectacular with the spout as a fish with it's open mouth. The silver mount is beautifully chased with sprays of leaves and a shell thumbpiece to the finial. The handle is also beautifully crafted with a dragon to the top and it's body and twisting tail extending down the handle. The claret jug is 9-1/2 inches / 240 mm high and just over 7 inches / 177 mm wide to the back of the handle. It is a heavy piece weighing 951 grams. The silver mount bears the tiny French Minerve poincant to the back of the handle, to the lid and also to the shell finial. There is also a maker's mark to the front side of the shell finial - which I have tried to show in one of the pictures. However, unfortunately these marks are very hard to photograph. The base of the glass is also signed Daum Nancy as can be seen in the pictures. The piece is in excellent condition. The silver is without dents, damage or repair and the lid opens / closes perfectly. There are no cracks or chips or other damage to the glass which is also in excellent condition. This is a very rare example of antique Daum glass. I accept payment via Paypal, debit or credit cards as well as personal cheques in Pounds Sterling drawn on a UK bank.
